iHazard – Adaptable Intelligent Multi-Hazard Risk Mapping Platform

The iHazard project aims to facilitate the prevention and management of natural hazards by providing public authorities and citizens with a modern, user-friendly tool based on digital technologies. Given the increasing risks associated with floods, landslides, avalanches, or rockfalls, it becomes essential to have clear and reliable information to better anticipate these phenomena and adapt infrastructure and protective measures.

iHazard involves developing a web application that allows for predicting natural hazards, visualizing risk areas, and analyzing them using interactive maps. The platform relies on numerous existing data, such as topography, watercourses, geology, land use, as well as the location of roads, buildings, and other infrastructure. By combining this information with artificial intelligence methods, the tool is capable of identifying areas where a hazard is likely to occur, including in sectors where no event has yet been observed.

Unlike traditional approaches, which are often complex and reserved for specialists, iHazard aims for intuitive and accessible use. Users will be able to adapt analyses to their specific needs, for example, for territorial planning, infrastructure project management, or raising awareness among exposed populations. The tool is designed to be financially affordable, so that small municipalities and regions with limited resources can also benefit from advanced technologies.
