Mission

The Icare research institute, based at the TechnoArk in Sierre (Valais – Switzerland). Its expertise and research focus on object identification, computer vision and machine learning. These innovations are integrated into mobile devices capable of communicating and interacting with multiple value-added services available in the cloud. The Icare research institute was created in 1991, on the initiative of the School of Computer Science in Sierre. It was later constituted as an association and its members, represented on the committee, include the State of Valais, Sierre Region, the municipality of Sierre and the HES-SO Valais-Wallis. The aims of the Icare association are to :

  • To contribute to the economic development of the Sierre region
  • Encouraging the creation of innovative companies in Valais
  • To manage and develop an information technology research institute.

The Institute participates in national and international research projects. It collaborates with the HES-SO Valais-Wallis and other educational and research institutions. All the applied research activities of the Icare Institute are guided by the same motto: “Computer science. From research to implementation”.
